July 13, 2007Hard-hitting Birmingham, AL band MAYLENE AND THE SONS OF DISASTER's video for the song "Dry the River" will make its MTV2 premiere this Saturday as part of the network's "Headbanger's Ball" program. Still shots from the much-talked-about video have been posted online at this location.
The conceptual video, a live action recreation of the artwork from the band's new album, "Maylene And The Sons Of Disaster: II", was helmed by director Andrew Paul Bowser and tells the story of "the last night for a gang of criminals" (as portrayed by the members of MAYLENE AND THE SONS OF DISASTER) whose "lucky streak has finally come to an end." "Dry the River" was filmed at the wondrous Sanna Ranch in Agua Dulce, CA, which has previously served as the film location for the motion pictures "Bones" and "Prime Evil".
"The 'Dry The River' video was based on the layout of the our new album 'II', and it turned out amazing," MAYLENE AND THE SONS OF DISASTER vocalist Dallas Taylor explains. "To me it feels like watching a short film and I don't think it could have turned out any better — I am so proud of it. The experience was like being a part of something more that just a music video. We put ourselves through a lot of difficult things, like standing in 40-degree water for an extended periods of time, falling down hills and being dragged over rocks. I believe that all of the hard work we put in, coupled with the vision of Director Andrew Bowser will ensure that this video comes across as more of an 'experience' for the viewer."
